Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains which data Chordy processes locally and when optional online features transfer data to Chordy servers.

Last updated: May 2026

Controller

Chordy is provided by Benjamin Klawitter, Schleipfuhlweg 44, 12621 Berlin, Germany.

You can contact us by email at contact@chordy.de.

Local app use

Chordy is built as an offline-first app. Songs, setlists, folders, settings, imported files, backups, and similar content are stored locally on your device first.

When you import, capture, share, or export files, Chordy processes that content to perform the feature you selected.

Optional account, sync, and backup features

Backend use is optional. If you sign in or actively use optional account, sync, and backup features, the account, device, library, file, change, and synchronization data needed for those features is transferred to and processed on Chordy servers.

This processing is used to synchronize your library between devices, provide backups, provide account features, and handle technical issues for those features.

Permissions and native features

The Android and iOS apps may request system permissions, for example for file picking, sharing, camera, MIDI, or audio features. Chordy uses these permissions only for the app feature you choose to use.

No advertising or tracking

Chordy uses no advertising, tracking, analytics services, or automatic third-party crash reporting.

Retention and deletion

Local data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, clear the app data, or uninstall the app.

Server-side account, sync, and backup data is stored while it is needed for the provided features or while legal retention obligations apply. You can request deletion at contact@chordy.de or follow the steps under Delete your account and data.

Your rights

Where the General Data Protection Regulation applies, you may request access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Notice when features, technical processes, or legal requirements change.
